PICK-BY-SCAN WITH HAND-HELD TERMINAL

Pick-by-Scan or Pick-by-PDT is a proven and relatively low-cost solution for paperless picking as well as the unambiguous identification of products or packaged items. The picking lists are loaded on to the portable data collection terminal and the display shows the picker the storage location and number of items to be picked. As the item is picked it is scanned by the hand-held device, the total quantity picked confirmed and the system updated. Not only is this process 100% reliable, it raises your picking rates to an entirely new level. Picking that is both simple and efficient.
LIGHT-CONTROLLED PICKING AND PICK-BY-LIGHT MATERIALS PREPARATION

Pick-by-Light systems from BOWE INTRALOGISTICS allow paperless, light-controlled picking and materials preparation. The basic principle is smart but simple. Instead of having a printed packing or picking list, a display on the storage shelf notifies the pickers of the item and the quantity to be picked. In the Pick-to-Light system light signals are positioned directly on the storage shelf or compartment. The digital display notifies the picker where and in which quantity the next item should be picked. Once the required number of products has been removed from the shelf, a button is pressed on the display to confirm that the removal process has been completed. At the same time, the information is forwarded to the Inventory Management or Warehouse Management System, which is updated.
PUT-To-LIGHT & PUT WALLS REDUCE PERSONNEL TRAFFIC

It is equally possible for this approach to work in reverse. In the Put-to-Light process, the target shelf is fitted with a digital display. A barcode scanner or a RFID technology is used to identify the product in question and light signals show the employee which item should be placed in which container. Here, too, a button can be pressed to confirm deposit of the item and the Inventory Management or Warehouse Management System is then updated. The efficiency of such a solution is enhanced still further by the use of additional sensors on the rack bay, which make manual confirmation by pressing a button unnecessary. This technology is primarily used with two-stage picking, when items from pre-picked batches are allocated to individual customers or production jobs. This might, for example, be in combination with large put walls. The way this works is that pre-picked products are scanned or identified by RFID, and light signals on the put wall show the employee which shelf the article in question is intended for. A single rack bay therefore represents a customer order or a production job. As soon as the full order has been placed in a compartment, the employee on the other side of the put wall is alerted by another light signal that this order can be packed and dispatched. This cuts out long routes and saves valuable time.
PICK-BY-VOICE-TECHNOLOGIES FOR PAPERLESS PICKING AND MATERIALS SUPPLY
